When the Intel MacBook Pro came out, I took the plunge. Mac OS X is now my desktop OS of choice.
The combination of a real UNIX with a real, useable desktop and the
ability to get serious commercial applications including
Office, Photoshop, etc is unbeatable. I built this
website on my Mac using RapidWeaver, iPhoto, and other Mac tools.
I presently have a MacBook Pro 15" (original Core Duo model)
as my laptop for use on trips:
I use an Intel Mac Mini as my desktop, for both work and
personal use, and my wife uses one as well:
She's an avid photographer though and moving to digital
photography, so I expect at some point I'll upgrade her,
perhaps to an iMac (probably 20"). Originally I started
her with a PowerPC mini, which I've since hooked up to
the TV in the living room, for AppleTV-ish use.
Incidentally I built my website on my Mac, using the very
nice (and inexpensive!) RapidWeaver program from RealMac Software, plus the Collage plugin from YourHead Software. The theme is my own
modification of the included Aqualicious theme that I call The Life Aqua WIth Steve Jobs (I actually
haven't seen the movie yet, but I've enjoyed some of
Wes Anderson's other work).
Also, if you're not a Mac person, I should probably explain
that the title "tyLife '08" is a play on Apple's iLife '08 suite, which contains
consumer-oriented, more creative/fun-oriented
non-productivity applications like iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb.
